to think unthought thoughts is not unthought thinking, 2010, uses two video cameras installed onto two walls near a doorway with tripods anchored into the wall. The video cameras stream video of each side of the doorway to projectors that project onto two venetian blinds. The venetian blinds hang from the ceiling and face the windows of one side of the building from a gallery of 36 Edgewood Avenue on the third floor. Each door, when opening or closing, pulls or releases string strung between the venetian blinds and the doorway, rotating the blades to make the video appear or disappear. The building 36 Edgewood (also known as the sculpture building) contains studios, gallery spaces, offices, a workshop, a computer room and classrooms. Yale University owns the building. Security clearance is necessary to enter the building. to think unthought thoughts is not unthought thinking attempts to make a work using 36 Edgewood that cannot be seen just in 36 Edgewood or from outside the building.
