In On a razor’s edge, 2009, cracks in the parched earth within digital photographs (Fault Lines, 2009) are traced with a razor blade and graphed onto satellite images of rivers. In these satellite images, the rivers have been traced with a razor blade and graphed onto the digital photographs of cracks in the parched earth. The lines formed by the cracks or fault lines mimic the lines of the rivers as seen from a satellite, each of which is the inverse of the other—one caused by the lack of water and another by an excess of water. The white spaces in the photograph(s) become (a) gap(s) in the photograph(s). |
